Community Safety Initiative (CSI) is an ongoing program initiated and funded by DT2 and supported by the community at large.

CSI advocates community responsibility in dealing with persistant crime and safety problems. CSI also intends to collaborate with organizations, especially the police department and other law enforcement agencies, on crime prevention. The third component of the CSI program is to make sharing safety information easier for all business owners, property owners and anyone who lives and works in this community.

Currently the team of CSI Working Group is working on the following projects:

  • Building CSI Blog: where the community easily shares all safety related information in a timely manner. The pilot site can be found here. To participate in the CSI Blog, you need to register. (Terms and Conditions apply)

  • Improving security lighting: we are working with the St. Louis Development Corporation to install new security lighting along the intersection of Meramec Street and Virginia Avenue.

  • Creating safety baseline data: thanks to the First District St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, we analyze available data with the goal of establishing baseline measures and developing focused safety programs.

  • May 2006: Thank-You letters to Chief Mokwa and Captain Mueller on their most recent effort to increase police presence in Downtown Dutchtown area, and appeal for the continuation of such programs.
